“I listen to the inevitable transformation of everything” is a site-specific walkabout performance that invites the audience to witness and participate in a RITUAL that helps embracing life’s inevitable passage from childhood to adulthood.
The performance moves within the boundaries of theatrical and poetic language; it does not follow the everyday logic, but the symbolic and imaginative one of the dream world; it is an attempt to reconnect to our organic nature, hoping that if we can embrace what we are made of, we can live more peacefully with ourselves and with all other beings with whom we share our home.
The seed for “I listen to the inevitable transformation of everything” was planted in June 2023 during a week-long rural art residency in close contact with the land (Ascolti di Terra, Tuscania – VT), where alternating agricultural work with moments of artistic practice led to the creation of a 10-minute moving poem. This first study was shared with a small group of local people in the open air among olive trees and wheat fields. The same study was then shared in the park of the Konkrete Kunst Museum in Ingolstadt for a dance festival on Earth (Tanztage 2023, Germany). Finally, thanks to CCS in Udine who sponsored an artistic residency at Villa Manin in September 2024, and thanks to a collaboration with Manuela Serra from Balletto Civile and the composer Matteo Cambò, the show became what it is today.
PS. The performance can take place outdoors in parks, fields, gardens, forests… and indoors in museums or big buildings. When words are used, they are in Italian; if needed they can easily be translated to English or Danish.
